2004 Dudesweet Poster (at Spoon)
This was Dudesweet’s second year. Most of the people in this photo show up in almost every photo from those first three years.Twenty-five years ago, the concept of a party promoter wasn’t really a thing yet in Thailand. Walking into a bar and asking to throw a weekend party without renting the whole place out wasn’t either.
 
For the first two years, we leaned on the privilege of being young and freshly graduated, lied to bar owners, telling them we were hosting a university reunion just to get in the door. We still got turned down a lot.
 
Spoon, Asoke Bar, Astra, and Cafe de Moc were some of the places that said yes. Spoon was an expensive bar in Sathorn, but after we told them our crowd had no money, they created a cheaper menu just for our parties. Turns out they were an upscale bar that also liked punk rock, so they let it slide.
